1.1 License Manager is missing

A error which indicates a existing problem with our license manager


2. Root cause

2.1 Origin

This error occurs when coDiagnostiX is checking for a running license service at startup. It could also occur during operation, but its quite rare. If the license manager is not running, or the service "STMSTMService" is not running, or the service is stuck and can't restart itself, the mentioned error message will be displayed.


3. Solutions

3.1 Main solution

Head to the following folder: " C:\Program Files (x86)\coDiagnostiX\coDiagnostiX.App\eToken" Run "STMSLMSrv.exe", this will open the diagnosis window of our license manager. Check if the license service is running, press "Install" if its not running yet. If the license service is displayed as running and the "STMSLMSrv.exe" is crashing it could be a hint that the service crashed and can't restart itself.

You may test to restart or end the service via Taskmgr, in such case its often missing user rights with the inability to restart running services.

In such a case the PC needs to be restarted. In some cases he PC even needs to be restarted from a admin account, this depends on the individual group policy of the customers IT landscape.

Restart coDiagnostiX and check if the error message is still persistent.

5.1 How to avoid the Error / Minimize the encounter

Some PC's are running for quite along runtime and, as we all know, Windows gets unstable and some services could crash for various. Advise the customer to restart the PC regularly to minimize the risk of various services crashing
