coDiagnostiX archive installation guide
1. Step by step - installation from an archive
If you have the coDiagnostiX installer archive downloaded, you will find a file you have to unpack/extract first. Depending on additional software being installed, there can be multiple ways to do this. In a default Windows configuration, you can right-click the file and choose “Extract All…”
After that, you will find a dialog window coming up. By default, it will be extracted in a folder with the same name as the archive file, right next to the archive file.
After clicking “Extract” make sure the process fully completes.
Next, you will find a folder with all the extracted files. Please, make sure you are not inside the archive. Then execute the “setup” application by double-clicking.
The folder icon marked in green indicates that you are in a regular folder and not inside the archive.
Then you can go through the steps in the InstallShield Wizard. It is important to make the right selection when you are on the “Setup Type” screen. In most cases, the default “Complete” is the correct choice. “Network License Service Installation” is needed when the license needs to be shared over the local network. This type of installation will not install coDiagnostiX itself, thus there will be no shortcut to coDiagnostiX on the desktop after completion.
During the installation process, you get asked to enter customer information at one point.
This information is automatically gathered from the Windows user account that you are logged into during the installation but can be changed at this step.
The information entered here is later displayed on the surgical protocol and material list, and thus can be important for the customer.
After a successful installation, you will get the following screen.
Finally, you will find the coDiagnostiX shortcut on the desktop, if you selected the complete installation option.
2. Installation attempt without extraction
If you try to install coDiagnostiX without prior extraction of the archive, you will see the following message at one point during the installation.
Just select “Abort” and make sure you are not inside the archive when executing the setup application.
Please extract the files first and make sure you are in the correct folder to execute the setup.
The screen above shows you how it looks like when you are inside the archive. You cannot successfully run the installation from there and must extract all files first.
3. Wrong installation type selected
If you completed the installation but cannot find the shortcut on the desktop or intended to do a network dongle installation and have a shortcut on the desktop after the installation, you have selected the wrong type of installation at the “Setup Type” selection window.
Please make sure to select the right type of installation for the use case at hand.
A complete installation will not include the necessary service for sharing the local dongle over the network. Vice versa, a “Network License Service Installation” will not include the coDiagnostiX software itself.
